The Love Story of Katie and Simon Frasier
September 18, 2000 ... Katie approaches Simon in the Lakeview bar. She warns him not to try to break up Holden and Lily - it's not worth it. A few days later, Katie visits Simon at his suite and invites him to come to Craig's party with her - since Lily is going with Holden. He's tempted but refuses.
Simon decides to go to Craig's party after all and catches up with Lily there. He pledges his undying love for her and kisses her - in front of all of Oakdale! Later, Holden tracks down Simon and punches him. After the party, Simon runs into a tipsy Katie. They bond and go back to the garage, where they listen to music and drink. Simon and Katie are about to kiss when an INS agent shows up and informs Simon that he's in trouble. The INS agent questions Simon, alluding to the fact that his days in the U.S. may be numbered before taking off. Simon and Katie continue to drink, and commiserate about how lonely they are. They share a hot kiss and give in to their lust.
Rose goes to the garage, where she finds Simon and Katie wrapped up in the backseat of the convertible. Rose tries to convince Simon to join forces with her and break up Lily and Holden for good. Simon is amused but not interested. Rose warns Simon about Katie. Simon is stunned when Katie reveals that she was a virgin until last night. Katie doesn't regret that Simon was her first and doesn't even care that he's hooked on Lily. She decides that Simon needs her and promises to surprise him with some "help."
Lily visits Simon at the garage and admits she's not ready to let him go. She reveals that she told Holden she wants to explore her feelings for Simon. Simon is thrilled at first, but then says it may already be too late for them. He wishes he knew last night so he wouldn't have been with Katie, but doesn't reveal this to Lily. He explains that the INS wants to deport him and wonders if she is sure that she wants to be with him or needs more time to decide. Lily proposes that they spend a romantic weekend at the cottage. Later, Holden refuses to watch the kids for the weekend when Lily takes off with Simon.
Katie returns home, thrilled about her night with Simon, but Craig takes reprimands her for failing to cancel an important appointment. He tells her that she's blown her last chance, but Katie lets him have it for his poor treatment of her. They argue and Craig kicks Katie out!
Simon finds Katie sleeping in the back seat of the car. Katie tells him what happened with Craig and admits she had no place else to go. She doesn't expect to move in; she just wants someone to talk to. She covers when Lily shows up and leaves. Lily tells Simon they can't go away right now because of her family and he's understanding. She's grateful and they share a kiss, which Katie watches. Katie calls the INS to ask how to keep someone from being deported.
Katie shows up and Margo assumes she's crawling back to apologize. She questions Tom about immigration and is thrilled when Tom mentions that marriage is a way to keep someone from being deported. Tom warns Katie of the penalties for being involved in a bogus marriage, but Katie blows it off. The passion builds between Lily and Simon and they are on the verge of making love with Simon pulls away. He has to admit to Lily that he slept with someone else. Lily reacts with anger and wants to know who it was. But Lily pulls herself together and says she can get past this. Simon decides Lily doesn't really care about him and they should call it quits. Lily passionately argues against this, but Simon reminds her the point could be moot if he is deported. Lily is determined to find a way to keep Simon in the States. Katie returns and Lily leaves, promising to work on Simon's INS problem. Katie tells Simon that she has the perfect way to keep him from being deported.
Lily asks Lucinda to use her political pull to keep the INS away from Simon. Lucinda blames Simon for the problems the Snyders are having and reveals she is the one who originally alerted the INS about Simon. Lily declares she'll go to Australia with Simon and take the kids with her, but Lucinda calls her bluff. Lily warns Lucinda that their relationship is in jeopardy if Lucinda doesn't help out Simon and storms out. Katie tells Simon that he should marry her so he won't be deported. Simon refuses, but Katie insists she's not expecting a "real" marriage. Katie claims she's not in love with him and isn't bothered by the fact that Simon's heart belongs to Lily. Simon tries to tell Katie that he has nothing to offer her, but she insists she wants to help out a friend. Simon rejects the idea and she gives up for the moment. When Simon agrees to let Katie stay in the car until she can figure out her next step, she lets him know that she wouldn't mind an encore of their night together.
As Katie eavesdrops on Lily and Simon's conversation, Officer Shanks nabs her and drags her to Margo. Margo realizes Simon is the reason why Katie had so many immigration questions for Tom. Margo tries to talk Katie out of a green card marriage, but Katie isn't fazed. Lily urges Simon to flee since he's about to be deported. Simon and Lily briefly consider running off together, but ultimately realize they must say good-bye. They make plans to go to Java for their first real date. Katie returns and so does the INS. Simon asks Katie to stall the INS as he slips out for his rendezvous with Lily.
When Lily confesses that she loves him, Simon is thrilled and vows that he'll never let her go. Lily is tempted to take the kids and run off with him, but Simon insists they must be apart temporarily. Lily leaves and Simon plays a blues song, thinking of her. Katie arrives and announces she's bought him more time with the INS. Simon's sure the INS is following her and Katie borrows Bryant's keys so she and Simon can escape from the INS.
The INS agents show up at Lily's house looking for Simon and she finds out that Simon hasn't been deported, he's gotten away. She's floored when they ask if she's in cahoots with Simon's fiancé! She insists Simon isn't engaged and she's not hiding him.
A desperate Lily turns to Tom for help at Simon's hearing. She's stunned when Tom realizes Lily's talking about the same man that Katie was thinking of marrying. Agent Halliwell comes to the police station to find out if Margo knows where Simon is. Lily and Tom arrive and convince Margo to come with them to stop Simon and Katie's wedding, not realizing that the INS is on their trail. Katie steals a suit from Craig and returns to the Old Mill, where Simon has been hiding. Jennifer and Bryant have arrived for a little romance, which a hiding Simon had no choice but to see. Katie announces to Bryant and Jen that she and Simon are getting married. Threatening to reveal Bryant's relationship with Ruby to Jennifer, Katie coerces them to be witnesses at the wedding ceremony. Bryant drives them to the courthouse, where Lily, Tom and Margo are waiting. Tom and Margo try to convince Katie this is a mistake, while Lily begs Simon not to go through with this. Simon tells Lily he's marrying Katie because this is the only way he can stay close to Lily. Lily doesn't think Katie is the answer. The judge enters and asks if the couple is ready to be married.
While trying to convince Simon not to go through with a sham marriage to Katie, Lily realizes that Katie is the woman Simon had a one-night stand with. Lily warns Simon that Katie is no simple "solution," and he's better off getting deported and trying to return legally than getting involved with her. Simon decides not to marry Katie after all. Margo and Tom are relieved, but Katie is furious that Simon is allowing Lily to call the shots! However, as Simon is about to turn himself in to the INS, Lily does an about face and tells him to marry Katie now!
Lily pushes Simon to marry Katie while Tom and Margo try to discourage it. Lily stalls the INS while Katie and Simon rush through a marriage ceremony. The INS agents arrive and express their doubts about the union. Halliwell lets Simon and Katie know he'll be watching their every move to prove the marriage is a fraud. Lily can only stay behind as Simon and Katie leave for their "honeymoon" night. Simon brings Katie home as she chats about her plans for their future.
Lily reluctantly tells Holden that Simon married Katie to avoid being deported. A gloating Holden shows up with a bottle of Scotch and warns Simon about Katie. Later, Katie plays the happy wife when INS Agent Halliwell arrives.
Simon and Lily meet in a park, pretending they're not together. Lily is appalled that Katie wants a honeymoon, but Simon thinks it could help keep the INS away. Lily gives Simon permission to go on a trip with Katie. Simon promises to make everything up to her. Katie asks Craig to spring for a honeymoon. He will do it on the condition that Katie have dinner with him, Margo and their mom Lyla. Katie reluctantly agrees. Simon returns home to find that Katie has put up Christmas decorations. She breaks the news to him that they must spend Christmas with her family. He concedes, although he's less than thrilled about it.
Tom, Margo and Craig enlist Lyla's help for a family "intervention" to get Katie out of her sham marriage. Simon is reluctant to deal with the family drama, but Katie reminds him that Craig will only pay for their "honeymoon" if he shows. Katie tries to be festive, but Craig announces the real agenda for the evening. Katie's stunned that everyone is ganging up on her and Simon can't help but defend her. Craig and Simon face off. Tom has annulment papers, but Katie tears them up, determined to take on the INS. After Simon and Katie leave, she bursts into tears.
Simon meets with the INS while Katie packs for their honeymoon. Agent Halliwell remains determined to nail Katie and Simon. Later, Katie comes on to Simon, but he rejects her - just in time for Halliwell to see. They cover and Katie assures Simon that after their honeymoon, Halliwell will never be able to get them for fraud.
Rose offers to watch the kids so that Lily can follow the honeymooners. Katie and Simon board a train for their honeymoon trip. Simon is depressed, but unavoidably amused by Katie’s childlike excitement. Simon is surprised to spot Lily, incognito, across the aisle. Simon sends Katie on a food run and shares a moment with Lily. Lily vows to do whatever necessary to make their secret affair work. Simon assures her that Katie won’t pose a problem for them. Simon and Lily begin to make love.
Lily and Simon are almost caught in the clinch by Katie, but Lily gets away without Katie realizing it. Katie and Simon arrive in Bay City and Katie goes out to get some food. Lily shows up and she and Simon begin to make love. When Katie returns, Lily must hide, unaware that she dropped her bracelet. Lily slips out, but Katie finds her bracelet. Simon lies that it's a wedding present for Katie.
Katie spots the inscription on the back of Lily's bracelet. Simon admits Lily followed him to Bay City, and Katie fears Lily has blown it for them. Agent Halliwell calls them into his office, where he tries to convince Katie to come clean or face the serious consequences. Katie keeps her cool with Halliwell, but later turns on Simon. Halliwell warns Simon that Katie is not the kind of girl who can live with the lie of a loveless marriage. Meanwhile, Katie confronts Lily about crashing her honeymoon.
Katie faces off with Lily, warning her to stay away from Simon before they all end up in jail. Lily reminds Katie that Simon is her husband in name only, but soon realizes Katie's really interested in Simon. Katie boasts that she has two years to make the marriage real - and there's nothing Lily can do about it! Lyla meets Simon and confesses she's worried about Katie. Lyla tells Simon about Katie's sad childhood and begs him not to break her heart. At home, Simon comforts Katie and assures her he will try to make their arrangement work.
Rose convinces Lily to let her impersonate her again to fool Halliwell. The agent accuses "Lily" of falling in love with Simon on the deserted island. "Lily" insists that Holden is the only man she loves and she is working to repair her marriage. Holden shows up unexpectedly at the door. Katie tells Simon she'd like for them to be real friends and gives him a guitar as a gift. He's touched. Lily interrupts their bonding moment and Katie is furious when Simon leaves with her. Katie turns to Henry for help in keeping Simon away from Lily. Henry agrees as long as she keeps an eye on Chris for him. Henry comes up with a plan. Meanwhile, Lily confesses to Simon that she's made the decision to be with him forever.
Simon can't believe Lily is ready to be with him, and vows to end things with Katie tonight. They plan for Simon to be deported and relocate somewhere in Canada. Holden immediately realizes Rose is playing Lily, and she convinces him to play along for Halliwell. Later she reveals that Lily is with Simon at her behest, to get her off the fence. Holden admits to he may not wait for Lily to make her decision. Holden and Luke leave, and Lily returns to report to Rose she will leave Holden as soon as Simon tells Katie it's over. Katie turns to Henry for help in keeping Simon, and he wonders if she could be pregnant. Katie blackmails him into finding a doctor to back up her claim she is pregnant. Simon comes to break things off with Katie when she drops the bomb that she's pregnant!
Katie claims a doctor in Peoria confirmed her pregnancy, but Simon grows suspicious when she can't recall the doctor's name. She guilts Simon about not trusting her. Later, Katie goes to Margo with questions about being pregnant and Margo realizes that Katie's pregnant. Lucinda wants Lily to join a farewell dinner for Sierra, but Lily is waiting for Simon's call. Lucinda challenges her to think about what she's doing. Lily goes to the farm, where she is moved by Luke and Holden's close relationship. She spends some time with them and ends up staying for dinner. The moment is interrupted when Simon calls Lily on her cell and announces that Katie is having his child.
Simon phones Lily to tell her that Katie is pregnant. Lily is certain Katie is lying and pulling out all the stops to hold onto Simon. Lily is upset and angry, and Holden walks in on the conversation. Lily admits to Lucinda she still hasn't decided which man she loves more. Lucinda urges her to choose one or hurt both men. After grilling Margo for symptoms, Katie greets Simon with the perfect picture of a pregnant woman - morning sickness, moodiness, etc. Simon begins to believe she's telling the truth and asks to accompany her on her next doctor's appointment. Katie leaves a frantic message for Henry.
Simon admits to Lily he didn't wear a condom when he had sex with Katie. Lily confesses that his having a child could change everything.
Simon announces that he wants proof that Katie is pregnant. Katie bristles that Lily has put him up to this, but Simon insists that he take Katie to see her doctor this afternoon. A panicked Katie calls Henry, who helps her set up an appointment with the shady doctor immediately.
Unimpressed with the dingy office, Simon insists that Katie find another doctor in Oakdale. But the sole other patient in the waiting room (Henry incognito) gives Dr. Early a raving recommendation. Simon reluctantly accompanies Katie to the visit, which Henry pays for. A distressed Simon returns home and calls Lily.
Rose runs into Katie at Fashions and boasts about her relationship with Holden. Katie reveals that she's pregnant and Simon is more devoted to her than ever - leaving Lily to snag Holden from Rose. Rose questions the timing of Katie's pregnancy and vows to get to the bottom of Katie's latest scheme. Simon tells Lily that Katie is indeed pregnant. He is sure they can work through this, but Lily tells him it would be best to end things, regardless if Katie is pregnant or not. Painfully, she returns his great grandfather's love letter and tells him that it's over. Simon explodes with anger, realizing how much he has lost for Lily. He's certain that Lily is going back to Holden. He vows to return to the man that he was before he met her and rips up the letter.
Simon tells Katie that Lily broke up with him. Katie tries to comfort him, but Simon won't let her. She feels guilty about his anguish until he reveals Lily would have left him even if Katie wasn't pregnant. Simon blames Lucinda for what is happening with Lily and a drunken Simon drives off to confront her.
A tipsy Simon shows up at Java Underground and vents about losing Lily. He decides that he's drunk enough to confront Lucinda and heads out. Katie convinces Margo to help her find Simon before he hurts himself or someone else. They arrive at Java and are horrified to learn he left in a stupor. Lucinda is stunned when Simon smashes his car through the house and right into the room, ready for a showdown!
After crashing his car into Lucinda’s house, Simon declares war on Lucinda. Margo and Katie arrive and Margo arrests Simon. Margo explains to Katie that Simon could be in jail for a long time. Katie wants to stay with Simon, but he reminds her that she needs to take care of their baby. Simon wakes up in jail and almost calls Lily, but hangs up. Katie arrives with a picnic breakfast. Katie and Margo appeal to Halliwell to back off, since Katie is expecting. Katie vows to stand by Simon, insisting that he needs her.
Simon's bail is set high and he’s stunned when Katie gets him out. He's astounded to learn that Isaac was his benefactor. Isaac explains that Katie's pleading convinced him, and Simon can pay him back by working in the club. Katie's disappointed when her Valentine's homecoming dinner doesn't work out as planned and Simon leaves. He goes to Lily's house and is shocked to hear she has gone away on her trip.
A desperate Henry begs Katie to give him some money so he can get out of town. When Katie won't help him, Henry threatens to spill all about her fake pregnancy. Just then, Simon enters. He notes Katie's nervousness…and recognizes Henry from the doctor's office! When Simon challenges Katie on her pregnancy, she runs out.
Simon forces Katie to admit that she faked her pregnancy. Katie thinks that they can still make their marriage work, but Simon disagrees. He thanks Katie for ruining his life and tells her to get lost. Alone, Katie bursts into tears, then vows that she's not going anywhere!
Simon returns home, surprised to find Katie still there. He informs her that he's thinking of going back to Australia. Lucinda arrives, announces that Lily has gone away with her children and offers him another deal to leave town. She has a friend at the I.N.S. - Halliwell - who will call off the watchdogs and she will pay to have his marriage to Katie dissolved. Later, Halliwell stops by and Simon assures him that even though he and Katie lost their baby, he has no plans to leave her or Oakdale.
Lucinda gives Simon one more chance to take her money and run, but he refuses. At the hearing, Katie convinces Lucinda to drop the charges against Simon when she suggests that Lily will be unhappy with Lucinda if she learns that her mother put Simon behind bars.
Simon asks Katie why she keeps putting herself out on a limb for him. She says she loves him, but Simon asserts that it's not love. When Katie asks Simon why he is staying in Oakdale even though Lily is out of the picture, he refuses to answer.
Katie follows Simon to Java, and continues to press him on his reason for remaining in Oakdale. When an angry Simon refuses, Katie decides to make Simon's secret her new mission and gives Henry a call.
Simon overhears Katie trying to contact an old friend. Simon warns Katie to stay out of his past. When Craig arrives at the garage and asks Simon to steal the missing loan document back for him, Simon refuses. Katie finds Henry drinking at Yo's. Henry agrees to help her dig into Simon’s past provided that she get a letter of recommendation for him from her brother Craig.
Rose calls Lily and asks her to meet her at Java, fully aware that Simon will be bartending. After fishing for information on how Holden responded to Lily's return, Rose arranges for Lily to bump into Simon. Lily apologizes to Simon for all that she put him through and offers to help him with his INS troubles. Simon maintains that he didn't go through all of that trouble just for her. Meanwhile, Rose finds Katie and tells her to forget about her dreams with Simon because he is at Java with Lily. An anxious Katie calls Henry for information on Simon's past. Katie is stunned when Henry informs her that Simon might already be married to someone else!
Simon tells Holden that Lily is through with him and he just wants her to be happy, even if that means her being with Holden. Rose is disappointed to learn that Simon is letting Lily go that easily. Katie goes to see Lily looking for information about Simon. Lily tells Katie that Simon will never love Katie. When Simon tells Katie that he is leaving Oakdale, Katie begins scheming to keep Simon around.
Katie tries to stall Simon's departure from Oakdale. She insists that he leave on a good note and they should have fun together on his last day. Katie manipulates their time together and tries to seduce him. She apologizes for trying to seduce him and begs him to stay in Oakdale for one more day so they can get to know each other. She continues to question him about his past and he cryptically admits to having been in love before. Simon insists that he has no prospects in Oakdale and therefore no reason to stick around. Katie asks Craig to give Simon a job.
Craig leaves Carly's house and gets into his car. Ruby surprises Craig and rips off her top, jumps into the car and kisses him. Gabe gleefully takes incriminating pictures of Ruby and Craig "kissing." Craig realizes he has been set up. He turns to Simon to help him find out who is responsible for setting him up. Simon eventually agrees to help Craig recover the incriminating photos if Craig agrees to move Simon and Katie into the Lakeview. Henry informs Katie about Simon's past as a gigolo. Later, Katie takes some comfort that she's returning to the Lakeview and the fact that Simon is staying in Oakdale for at least a little longer.
Katie and Simon move into Craig's Lakeview suite. Katie overhears Simon trying to track down Ruby. Fearing that he is back to his old tricks and looking for wife number six, Katie confronts Simon about his past. He admits to his previous marriages but insists that he loved each of his wives. He tries to convince Katie that his interest in Ruby is just business.
Rose considers returning to New Jersey until Simon convinces her that she is letting Lucinda get want she wants. Later, with help from Isaac, Simon finds Ruby at Yo's and starts to seduce her. Katie grills Isaac about where Simon went. Henry confronts Katie about her living in Craig's suite at the Lakeview while he is struggling. He threatens to spill Simon’s story to The Intruder. Katie insists that she and Simon are now completely honest with each other, and Henry can't do anything to harm them. Simon easily charms Ruby as he confides in her that he is a con artist too and reveals his schemes. He convinces her that they are soul mates, they prepare to leave Yo's together when an angry Katie shows up and demands to know what Ruby is doing with her husband.
Busted by Katie at Yo's, Simon pretends that Katie's just another rich woman he married for the money. Ruby is intrigued, but Katie loses it and attacks Ruby. After Simon manages to break them up, he takes Katie aside and tells her his meeting with Ruby is just business for Craig. He leaves Yo's with Ruby and tries to learn more about her plan to scam Craig. Meanwhile, a fuming Katie tries to make Simon jealous by bringing a drunken man from the bar back to their apartment. Her plan backfires when the guy passes out. Simon kicks him out and tries to convince Katie that spending time with Ruby is part of his job. Katie is furious with Craig for involving Simon with Ruby.
Simon reports back to Craig that Bryant is the behind Gabe and Ruby's plans to incriminate Craig. Meanwhile, Katie sees Margo setting up for Lien's surprise party and is offended that she was not invited. Margo finds out that Simon is working for Craig and warns him that Craig can be dangerous. Craig asks Simon to go after Ruby and Gabe to find out what their real plan is.
Craig and Simon barge into Gabe’s trailer demanding to know about Gabe's plans for Bryant. Eventually, Craig realizes that Gabe and Ruby are out to get Lucind's money. He tells Simon to keep a close eye on Ruby.
Craig laments to Katie about his blown relationship with Barbara. When Barbara unexpectedly knocks on his door, Katie punches Craig in the stomach so that it looks like he's suffering. Simon reluctantly goes to visit Ruby after Craig urges him to find out her plan. She admits to Simon that she and Gabe plan to rob Lucinda blind. While he is seducing Ruby, Lily walks in and sees them kissing. Lily demands to know what Simon is doing in Lucinda's house with Ruby. Ruby adds fuel to the fire by commenting on Simon's past. While Simon is attempting to explain, Ruby realizes that Lily is the one who Simon fell in love with. Meanwhile, Katie storms off towards Lucinda's, furious at Craig for making her husband spend time with Ruby. When she sees Simon with Lily and Ruby, she attacks Ruby. Simon and Lily pull them apart and Lily demands that everyone leave. Lucinda walks in and sends Ruby to her room. She asks Simon what he was doing in her house, but he plants a kiss on her and leaves with Katie. Later, Simon reports what happened at Lucinda's to Craig.
Craig tries to convince Simon to go back to Lucinda's house to steal the photos of himself and Ruby. He promises Simon that the payoff will be worth his troubles, but Katie enters and threatens to kill Ruby if she ever sees Simon and Ruby together again! Simon realizes that Katie is bent out of shape because of Lily's presence at Lucinda’s - not Ruby's. When Katie warns Simon that Craig won't think twice about setting Simon up, Simon assures her that he can take care of himself.
Rose tries to provoke Lily so she'll exact revenge on Simon, but when Lily refuses, Rose suggests she at least confront him. Lily calls Simon to arrange a meeting. Katie is worried that her time with Simon is running out. She calls Henry to help her find ways keep Simon in Oakdale. To entice Henry, she forges a letter of recommendation from Craig. Henry suggests that Katie get the one thing that Simon is interested in - money. Meanwhile, Simon calls Ruby to set up another date.
Simon, despite Katie's protests, agrees to meet Lily at the Old Mill. Katie follows them and eavesdrops on their conversation. Simon admits to Lily that everything that he said to her was a lie; he was only interested in the diamond. Lily asks if their relationship was a lie as well. He proclaims his feelings for her were true. Lily finds out that Simon is working for Craig and asks him to promise not to help Craig destroy her mother. When Simon tells Craig that he won't break into Lucinda’s house to get the pictures of Craig and Ruby, Craig is angry but agrees to do it himself.
Lily tells Holden that she met with Simon and informs him of Simon's philandering past. Holden is upset that Lily is still hiding things from him, but she assures him that Simon means nothing to her. Katie, convinced that Lily and Simon are through, reiterates her love for Simon. He tells her to get her own life and storms out of their suite. Katie tells Henry that he has to help her. She tells him that her plan is to go to the island where Simon and Lily were stranded to recover the diamond. Henry listens but when he hears that the diamond is at the bottom of the ocean, he tells her that she is crazy. Katie insists it's the only way to hold on to Simon. Henry tells her to find a different travelling companion, and leaves. Simon returns and before going to bed, they comfort each other.
Ruby asks Simon if he has been conning her. Simon admits that he was and that he told Craig everything he found out. Katie enters the room and, furious to see Ruby near her man again, sprays Ruby with the fire extinguisher. Amused, Simon agrees that Katie makes life interesting. When she asks for details about the diamond that brought him to Oakdale, he tells her about it. Armed with the approximate location of where the diamond is, Katie tells Henry to get ready to go find the diamond. When Henry asks how she plans to pay for the wild goose chase, she shocks him by admitting that she has a lot of money saved.
Katie reveals to Henry that she has a private stash of money and can fund their trip to search for Simon's lost diamond. She convinces Henry to accompany her on the trip and they agree to leave on the day of Craig's wedding.
Katie is preparing for her diamond hunting adventure when Simon arrives. A deliveryman arrives to drop off some survival kits and Katie panics. Katie tries to hide him, but Simon discovers him in the closet and kicks him out. Katie rejoices because she thinks Simon was acting jealous and challenges him to prove that he's not jealous by kissing her. After a steamy kiss, Simon denies feeling any sparks, but when Katie leaves, Simon reveals how affected he was.
Simon finds Katie and Henry discussing the final arrangements for their trip. After he tosses out Henry, Simon asks a nervous Katie what the two of them are up to. Katie denies that she and Henry are up to no good and sends Simon off to pick up his tux.
Simon wants to alert Craig of Lucinda's arrival, but is distracted when he sees Katie's trunk lying off to the side with a tag that says "Deliver to airport." Simon catches Katie before she can sneak out and demands an explanation. Trapped, Katie tells Simon that she is going away with another man, but when Simon finds out that the other man is Henry, he laughs and wishes them fun on their adventure. Katie leaves Simon a note explaining where she is going, but a breeze brushes the note to the floor. In Simon's hotel room, a maid finds Katie's note and places it in a magazine.
Katie and Henry find the island. While they are preparing to land they realize they have overlooked a few details. There's no landing strip and they can't land in the water because they are not flying a pontoon plane. Nevertheless, Katie, refusing to return home, grabs control of the plane.
Simon demands that Craig pay him the money he is owed. Craig agrees and starts to write him a check. He proposes that Simon could get even more money from Craig if he wants to do one more assignment. Craig wants Simon to get himself arrested so that he can get a message to Gabe in jail. Craig explains that it won’t be a major charge and he'll have Cass on stand by ready to bail him out. Simon agrees to the deal for a million dollars. Simon starts to get drunk in the Lakeview Lounge, he punches Craig out and is arrested for public drunkenness. In jail, Simon tells Gabe that Craig wants to make a deal with him. Gabe insists that he doesn't trust Craig, but he changes his mind when Simon says it will get both him and Ruby out of jail. Gabe agrees and Cass bails out both Simon and Gabe.
Margo questions Simon about Katie's whereabouts and Simon reveals that he really is worried about her. Meanwhile, Katie is getting settled on the island and preparing to search for the diamond while Henry tries to get through to her that they are stranded. Katie assures Henry that they are not stranded because Simon will come look for her once he finds the note she left for him. Henry just rolls his eyes and teases her.
Simon starts to worry about Katie. He shares his concerns with Craig, who doubts that Katie is in danger. When he goes to ask Margo about Katie, she tells him about the shooting at Lily's house. Meanwhile, on the island, Katie dreams that Simon will rescue her. Henry continues to try and get through to her that Simon is probably glad to be rid of her. They see footprints and find themselves in an ambush of mangoes. Cooley emerges and demands that they leave his island. Henry and Katie run from him, only to find that their trunk and supplies have been stolen.
On the island, Henry makes a desperate attempt to protect his last remaining survival item: his martini kit. He goes out to hunt for food while Katie keeps herself busy by transforming a coconut into a Simon look alike. She talks to Simon and pleads with him to rescue her. Meanwhile, a hotel clerk hands over Katie's hotel phone records but offers no other information regarding Katie's whereabouts to Simon. He discovers that she rented a plane and starts to grow concerned about the trouble that she has gotten herself into. Simon overhears the news that Luke and Holden are missing. Later, Simon goes to comfort Lily. While they discuss the explosion, Simon implies that he thinks it is odd that no bodies were found in the wreckage. Iva hears Simon planting hope in Lily's head by suggesting that Luke and Holden are alive. While Iva is reprimanding Simon, Jake comes to his defense proclaiming that he too has some questions about the explosion. Jake and Simon agree that there are too many missing pieces from the night of the explosion.
Jake and Simon go to Damian's hotel room looking for clues about his disappearance. They discover a phone number in his room and find out that it is a boat rental company in Wisconsin. As they talk it out they start to suspect that Damian knew ahead of time that his boat was going to explode. On the island, Henry tries to repair the plane. Cooley steals all of Katie's clothes while she bathes. With nothing to wear, Henry brings Katie a parachute that he found and tells her to make clothes out of it. Henry tells her that he is leaving as soon as he fixes the plane, regardless of what Katie wants to do. She starts to worry that he'll leave before she finds the diamond.
Jake tells Molly that he and Simon are investigating Holden and Luke's deaths. Molly pleads with Jake to be careful and he expresses how badly he wants to bring some good news to Abigail. Jake and Simon leave for Wisconsin. There, Jake questions the owner of the boat rental company, Doyle. Doyle says that he is no longer renting boats because he is retiring to Florida and he has never heard of Damian. While Jake is questioning Doyle, Simon discovers a powerboat and wonders if it could have been used to get Damian, Luke and Holden away from the explosion. While searching the boat rental shop, Simon shows Jake a lollipop that he found in the speedboat. He thinks that it's possible that Holden left it there as a clue, but Jake thinks that Simon is grasping at straws. He warns Simon not to give Lily false hope about Holden and Luke. At the memorial service for Holden and Luke, from the background, Simon watches as Lily's family gathers around her. Lucinda sees Simon arrive and tells him to get out, but he reveals that he suspects that Holden and Luke are still alive. Lucinda thinks he is just trying to get close to Lily when she is vulnerable. Simon insists that his intentions are honorable and if she doesn't help him he'll talk to Lily about it. Lily approaches them after seeing them argue and wants to know what they are discussing.
While a disapproving Lucinda looks on, Simon tells Lily that he is there to support her. Jake sees the exchange and tries to impress upon Simon that giving Lily false hope is a bad idea. In the church, Iva begins her eulogy and Lily jumps up insisting that Iva stop. She says that she will not mourn her husband and son until someone proves that they are gone. Simon follows her out of the church and tells her what he and Jake found in Wisconsin. Lucinda tries to intervene, but Simon has already told Lily that he thinks Holden and Luke are alive.
Simon tells Lily about his third boat theory and he shows her the lollipop he found on the boat. Lily recognizes it as the same one Faith gave Holden after her doctor appointment. Lily has hope that Holden and Luke are still alive. Lily faces off with Lucinda, swearing that she will keep searching for her family. Rose confronts Simon and asks him about what he has found, but Simon thinks it would be easier for Lily if he wasn't involved.
Simon goes to Craig's suite to ask for the money he is owed. Jack arrives to search the suite for evidence. He questions Simon and searches his and Katie's room as well. While searching Simon’s room, Jack finds two dolls dressed up as Simon and Katie on their wedding day in Katie's trunk. Simon is touched and starts to worry about where Katie has gone. They continue to search and find Katie's note saying she is on the island. On the island, Henry tries to convince Katie that Simon is not going to rescue them. Resilient and not believing him, Katie comes up with a plan to get their trunks back. Katie and Henry use a martini to lure Cooley to them. When he shows up, Katie and Henry try to trap him under the parachute, but he overpowers them and Henry is forced to knock him over the head with Katie's coconut Simon. Cooley eventually agrees to take them to their trunks if Katie will sleep with him.
Simon grows concerned about Katie and the danger she could be in. When Simon finds out that Craig is still in town, he approaches him to help find Katie. Craig not only refuses to help, but he also refuses to fund Simon's search for Katie. Simon turns to Margo for help, but she is too busy with Barbara's investigation. Margo challenges Simon that if he really cares for Katie he should go find her. On the island, Katie agrees to sleep with Cooley if he gives back their trunks and supplies. Trying to stall for time, Katie suggests that he shower, shave and clean himself up for her. She tells Henry that she bought them a little time to come up with a plan so that she doesn't have to sleep with Cooley.
Simon makes some phone calls and discovers that Katie's plane never made it back from the island. Rose approaches him to help Lily investigate Luke and Holden's disappearance. When Simon insists that he has his own missing person to find, Rose offers to get Simon the money he needs to rescue Katie if he helps Lily. Simon agrees to accompany Lily to Wisconsin to try again to get information out of the boat rental company owner. On the island, Katie has a new plan for Cooley. She goads Henry into dressing up in drag to entice Cooley. They pick poisonous berries and make a poisonous lip-gloss. Henry puts on the gloss and Cooley arrives. He cuddles up to Henry and when he realizes that Henry is not Katie, Henry plants a big wet poisonous kiss on Cooley.
Lily approaches Doyle, the owner of the boat rental company in Wisconsin. Lily tries to appeal to his sympathies, but Doyle refuses to give up any information. Simon comes in and under duress Doyle admits that he accepted money to provide a boat, but never saw his client. Lily steals Doyle's phone and searches through his caller ID listings. She finds an international number and calls it. She is shocked when she finds herself on the phone with Damian. On the island, Cooley passes out from the drugged lip-gloss that Henry was wearing. Henry and Katie bury Cooley neck deep in the sand. Katie makes him believe that she is pouring fire ants on him until he reveals where he hid her scuba gear. She puts it on and wades into the ocean in search of the diamond. Katie surprises Cooley and Henry by coming out of the water with the diamond!
Lily demands to know where Holden and Luke are but Damian hangs up. She is now completely convinced that they are alive. She calls the Chicago police department and they agree to send a detective to check it out. Detective Adamski is not impressed with the "evidence" that Lily has gathered, but he agrees to look into it. Simon believes that Lily is on her way to finding Holden and Luke. He approaches Rose about collecting the money she offered so he can go rescue Katie. She gives him his money so he can rescue her. Lily considers asking Simon for help again but when she learns that he is going after Katie she lets him leave. On the island, a bird swoops down and steals the diamond from Katie. Katie is distraught and feels like giving up. Henry frees Cooley from the sand and goes to hunt for food while Cooley tries to comfort Katie. She starts to accept the fact that, although she still dreams of being rescued by Simon, he is not coming for her. Henry finds a bunny rabbit on the island and he plans to cook it, but Katie wants to keep it as a pet.
On the island, Henry is tired of Katie’s defeatist attitude. He tries to get her to snap out of it by proposing marriage and it works. Katie is back to her old feisty self. Simon sets out to rescue Katie, but after remembering all the trouble she has caused him, he decides to turn the plane around. Then remembering their good times, Simon turns the plane around again and with mixed emotions goes to rescue Katie.
On the island, Katie still dreams that Simon will come to rescue her. When she wakes up he is really there and after reprimanding her they fall into a deep kiss. Simon then turns on Henry and is furious with him for putting "his wife" in danger. Katie tries to soothe him by interjecting that she has found his diamond – but then lost it again. Katie tries to persuade Simon into staying so they can search for the diamond, but Simon insists that they leave immediately. Henry is thrilled by the idea of returning to civilization, but Simon replies that the plane he brought is a two-seater and not big enough to bring Henry home.
Simon threatens to leave Henry stranded with Cooley. As Katie and Simon's plane takes off a bird gets caught in the propellers and drops dead at Henry and Cooley's feet – the bird is carrying the diamond. During their plane ride, Katie tries to prove that because Simon rescued her he must love her. Simon finally relents and vaguely agrees to loving her. An overjoyed Katie jumps on him and the plane spins out of control.
When Lily leaves for the airport, Lucinda calls a friend to request government help for Lily but Rose stops her. Rose suggests that Lucinda ask Simon to look out for Lily on her adventure. She confesses that she has already paid Simon for helping investigate Holden and Luke's disappearances so far and Lucinda agrees that Simon is the best choice to protect Lily. Meanwhile, Katie taunts Simon about his admission of love for her. She asks Simon to make love to her when they return to Oakdale and much to Katie's delight, Simon agrees.
Katie is ready for a night of passionate love making with Simon. She cleans herself up for him and they share a deep kiss. Things start to get heated when there is a knock on the door. Simon finds Rose at the door and she tells him that Lucinda is willing to give him a blank check if he will go to Malta and help Lily. Furious that Lucinda thinks she can buy him, Simon leaves Katie behind and storms out of the Lakeview to go confront Lucinda.
Simon arrives to confront Lucinda. Angry that she thinks she can buy him, Simon insists that he doesn't want any part of Lucinda’s plan. Lucinda apologizes to Simon for assuming he was trying to hurt Lily in the past when he has been a good friend to her. Lucinda fills him in on the lack of police help and the message in a bottle that Lily received and Simon agrees to go help her, but he refuses to profit from Lucinda's offer. He tells Katie that he is going to Malta and she suggests that she should accompany him, but Simon doesn't want her to be in danger and promises he'll return safely. However, when he leaves Katie starts to make arrangements to follow him.
Katie, disguised as a nun, follows Simon onto the plane for Malta. Simon asks a stewardess about the fortress that he suspects Lily might be headed for and she gives him directions on how to find it. When the plane lands, Simon sets off to find Lily. Katie follows Simon on a stolen bicycle. Simon walks in on Lily mourning alone in the dungeon. He tries to keep her optimistic and hopeful about Holden and Luke’s whereabouts. Simon believes that if Damian could have faked their deaths in Chicago, the bullet-ridden dungeon might be another trick. While trying to convince her, he finds Holden's wedding ring in the drain.
In Malta, Katie hitchhikes around Malta. Meanwhile, Simon tries to convince Lily that nothing may be how it appears and Holden and Luke may still be alive. Simon and Lily go back to Lily's room in Senora Cordina’s home and Simon is immediately suspicious. He thinks it is too coincidental that she was there to "help" Lily and he doesn't think they should trust anyone. Simon agrees to sleep in the room with Lily, so she will feel safer, when an exhausted Katie bursts into the room.
In Malta, Simon reprimands Katie for putting them in danger by following them. Simon informs her what they have discovered so far and Katie finally starts to empathize with Lily. Katie is forced to spend the night in their room because no other hotels are available. Simon, suspicious of their landlady, decides to keep watch outside of the room.
Katie and Lily settle their differences and empathize with each other's situation. Katie goes to check on Simon and discovers that he is missing. Katie starts to panic and Lily tries to calm her down. Simon returns with a policeman and warns everyone that Senora Cordina is not to be trusted. He explains what he overheard her saying about the two Americans being held in Argotti. Lily demands to know what Senora Cordina knows about her husband and child, but is interrupted by an arriving policeman who arrests Katie for stealing a bike. In jail, Katie learns from one of the guards that Argotti is an opera house. She realizes that the opera house is where Holden and Luke are being held.
Lily and Simon collect Katie from jail and she tells them that Holden and Luke are being held at the Argotti Gardens Opera House. They decide to attend that night's performance to search for Holden and Luke. When Katie leaves to see a judge, Lily tells Simon to admit that he has feelings for Katie. Despite Simon's unwillingness to concede that he cares for Katie, Lily tries to convince him to let her into his heart. Later, Lily, Simon and Katie get ready to attend the opera.
In the opera house, Simon searches the theater while Katie and Lily scan the audience for Holden and Luke. Katie and Lily see a box with the Grimaldi crest on it. Lily rushes to the box, hoping to find Damian. Simon returns to Katie's box. As they watch Lily, they see a strange man enter and struggle with her. Lily learns that the man is Dante, Damian's brother. He tries to kill Lily, but Simon rushes to her rescue and Dante flees. Lily and Simon search the storage rooms of the opera house and find evidence that Holden and Luke are alive. Lily goes through the hole in the wall and Simon continues to search for them outside. Katie arrives quickly followed by Dante and his guards, who threaten to kill them if they don't reveal where Lily has gone.
Simon and Katie find themselves tied up in the storage room. Katie attempts to get amorous, but Simon thinks they should focus on escaping. Katie suggests that her necklace could be used to unlock their handcuffs, but she can't get to it. Simon goes foraging around in the bodice of her dress to find it. Katie and Simon share a tender moment and Katie grows wild with anticipation as Simon continues to look for her necklace.
Simon successfully retrieves Katie's necklace and goes to work on picking their handcuffs. Free from their restraints, Katie and Simon fall into an embrace and kiss. Simon breaks the kiss when he hears the church bells. Is that where Holden and Luke are? When a guard turns their lights off, Simon begins planning their escape.
Simon works on getting both he and Katie out of the opera storage room. They become distracted with each other, but eventually resume with their escape plan. They hear Lily screaming in the distance and Katie devises a plan to get them out. Katie cries in order to get the guard's attention. Simon hides in one of the trunks and when the guard isn't looking, Simon pulls him into the trunk. There is a struggle, but Simon emerges from the trunk with the guard's gun and he and Katie exit through the front door.
Katie and Simon arrive at Lily's room and they tell each other what they have learned. They discover that Dante is having them followed, so they agree to take turns sleeping and keeping watch. During the first watch, Lily realizes that Dante's guard has fallen asleep and she slips away to the church.
Simon is immediately concerned when he learns that Lily is in the church. Simon fends Katie off by saying that he doesn't want to make love again because he is afraid that it will ruin the mystery between them. Katie thinks that he's in love with her. Simon denies it and goes off to find Lily. Guido shows up and tells Katie that he has a gift for her. Simon returns and Guido offers them plane tickets back to America. He explains that if they do not leave willingly, they will be deported. Simon accuses him of working for Dante, but Guido surprises him by revealing that he is working for Damian.
Simon refuses to leave Malta without seeing Lily first. Guido agrees and takes Katie and Simon to see Lily in jail. Lily assures Simon and Katie that returning home is the right thing to do. Lily asks Simon not to tell Lucinda what they have learned so far about Holden and Luke. She tells Simon that she has seen Damian and plans on following through with Dante's plan to set him up. She admits that it was a difficult choice, but she needs to save Luke. Simon thinks turning Damian over to Dante is a mistake, but Lily doesn't see any alternative. Inspector Guido and Katie bond when he tells her about the wonders of Tuscany. He urges her not to forget how special she is. After Simon and Katie board the plane, Guido brings Lily back to her room. On the plane, Simon apologizes to Katie, kisses her and then exits the plane to stay and help Lily. Katie warns Simon that she might not be waiting for him when he comes home.
Katie comes home and she and Craig lament the sorry state of their love lives. Craig tells Katie that if she wants Simon back she has to stop chasing him and start playing hard to get. Rose spots Katie. She immediately calls Lucinda to inform her that Katie is back. She must know something about Lily!
Lucinda finds Katie in the Lakeview Lounge and questions her about how things are going in Malta. Katie spills to Lucinda that Luke is alive and that Lily has seen him. When Katie leaves, Lucinda orders Matthew to tell her pilot to get her jet ready to leave for Malta. In Malta, Lily is surprised to learn that Simon has stayed in the country to help her. Lily decides that she must warn Damian about the danger that awaits him at the Café Dell' Arte, and sends him a message via Signora Cordina that only he will understand. Lily and Simon leave for the café. Lily questions Simon about his true feelings for Katie, but he doesn't want to talk about her.
One of Rose's Atlantic City friends, Bruno, locks eyes with Katie and follows her into the lounge. They continue to flirt at the bar. A Katie dances with Bruno and removes her wedding ring. In Malta, Lily arrives at the Café Dell’Arte. Dante is furious that Damian is not with her. She tells him that Damian is on his way, but an unconvinced Dante brings out a hooded Holden. Dante's guards find Simon outside and drag him in. Lily runs to Holden and a guard tries to hold her back. Simon attempts to defend Lily, but is stabbed by a guard. In pain, Simon is thrown into a corner next to an old crone, whom he recognizes. Damian arrives and promises to give the Grimaldi Empire to Dante if Luke is safe. They bring out Luke, who also has a hood over his head. Damian signs the Empire over to Dante, who threatens to kill everyone as insurance that Damian won’t change his mind. Dante is stopped when Lucinda, wielding a large gun, reveals herself as the old crone in the corner.
Katie lies to Bruno and says that she is not married. He leads her outside and they share a dance. When she finally confesses that she is married, Bruno doesn't seem to mind and tries to create a more intimate setting. Katie manages to stall him. In Malta, Dante pulls Luke in front of him and uses him as a shield against Lucinda's gun. Holden leaps across the room to pull Luke out of the line of fire as Lucinda shoots Dante. They pull the hood off of Luke and discover that it was a decoy: the real Luke is still missing! They search the café for Luke and find him, but their reunion is cut short when Damian takes Luke away at gunpoint. After Simon receives medical attention, he and Lucinda agree to return to Oakdale.
Bruno visits Katie and sees that she is agitated. He tells her that he has a fun activity in mind: making wine. They go to Craig's suite and Katie changes into her bathing suit. Bruno pours grapes into Craig's tub and Katie hops in and stomps on them. Meanwhile, Lucinda and Simon discuss their new friendship on the plane ride home from Malta. When Lucinda asks him about his feelings for Katie, Simon admits that he is worried about how upset Katie will be with him about leaving her alone on the plane. Simon arrives at Craig's suite and hears music. He follows it into the bathroom and walks in on Bruno kissing Katie!
Simon is startled when he finds Katie making wine in the bathtub with Bruno. Weakened by his knife wound, Simon collapses on the floor. Bruno leaves after learning that Simon is Katie's husband. Katie tends to Simon and informs him that she is dating Bruno now. Simon tries to convince Katie that Bruno is using her, but a defensive Katie asks Simon why he cares if their marriage isn't real. When Craig and Cass return to Craig's suite, Craig gives Simon a check that he owes him for services rendered. Simon realizes that this is his ticket out of Oakdale.
Katie baits Simon with the news that she is taking a trip to St. Martin with Bruno. After, Simon heads over to see Rose, who advises him to confess his true feelings to Katie. When Simon returns home, he doesn't want Katie to go, but can't bring himself to tell her that he loves her. Katie takes off for the airport.
Simon shows up at the airport and almost comes to blows with Bruno. Simon tries to convince Katie not to go away with Bruno, but since he can't admit that he loves her, Katie informs Simon that they are through. Simon warns Katie that if she gets on the plane with Bruno, he will leave Oakdale and she will never be able to count on him again. Katie kisses Simon passionately and says goodbye.
Craig is depressed that his relationship with Carly is not progressing. He is wallowing in his sadness when Katie returns from St. Martin. Katie and Craig commiserate about their failed attempts to make the objects of their affection want them. Katie suggests that they help each other out. If Craig tells Bruno that Katie has left town to join a convent, she will manipulate Carly into stopping by Craig's apartment. Katie leaves and Craig prepares for Carly's arrival, but instead gets a visit from Bruno. Meanwhile, when Carly arrives home she gets a visitor - Katie. Katie tells Carly that Craig is depressed and she is concerned about him.
The police station gets a warrant for Katie Frasier's arrest. (She’s being brought up on grand larceny charges regarding the charter plane she flew to the island with Henry.) Shanks calls Margo, who gives him the go ahead to find and arrest Katie. Meanwhile, Katie informs Carly that Craig is in a desperate state and she needs to help him. Carly decides to call and check up on Craig. When Katie leaves, she is arrested. Bruno questions Craig about Katie's whereabouts. He doesn't believe the convent story. When Carly leaves a message, she mentions Katie and Bruno sets off to find her.
Jack goes to Carly's apartment and finds Bruno knocking on the door. He confronts Bruno about what he's doing there and Bruno replies that he is looking for his girlfriend. Jack thinks he means Carly, but Bruno is referring to Katie. After straightening out the mistake, Jack tells Bruno that Katie is at the police station. Katie is devastated to discover that the charter plane company is pressing charges against her for their missing plane. Bruno arrives and offers to pay Katie's debt so that she won’t face jail time. She accepts his offer, but later discovers that he now believes that he owns her. Simon decides to return to Oakdale when he can't stop thinking about Katie.
Simon goes to Craig's Lakeview suite to search for Katie. Craig tries to make Simon jealous and tells him that Simon is too late. Katie is off enjoying herself with Bruno. At Java, Katie sulks while Bruno tries to lift her spirits by reminding her how he bailed her out of jail. Bonnie overhears their conversation and reports to Isaac that she thinks Katie is in trouble. When Katie asks Bruno what is to stop her from walking out on him, Bruno states that he now owns her. A scared Katie agrees to stay. He leans in to kiss her just as Simon arrives. Broken-hearted, Simon leaves.

Simon returns to the Lakeview suite to find Bruno alone. Bruno decides to search for Katie, but Simon knocks him out cold.
Simon arrives at the penthouse and exclaims to Margo and Craig that Katie has disappeared to avoid being with Bruno. Margo agrees to do a background check on Bruno, but she and Craig don't feel the need to panic because Katie always finds her way out of messes. Later, Katie checks in to a convent. Margo informs Simon later and tries to convince him that it would be better for Katie if he broke up with her. Simon insists that he loves Katie and sets off to find her. He goes to speak with the Mother Superior of the convent and Bruno is there. The Mother Superior tells them that Katie has left the convent. Bruno sets off to find Katie.
Simon arrives and asks Margo if she has heard from Katie. He admits to having real feelings for her. An exterminator comes to look for a bat in Margo's attic. Instead, he finds Katie and her bunny, Snickers, hiding out. Katie confesses that she was afraid of Bruno. (Interestingly enough, the CBS recaps state: "Katie confesses that she had joined the Army and went AWOL." Obviously, another change in plans.) Simon embraces Katie and tells her that he loves her. Their reunion is interrupted when Bruno arrives and forces Katie to leave with him.
Bruno informss Katie that they are leaving Oakdale immediately. Simon breaks down the door of the Lakeview and charges towards Bruno, who drops his gun. Katie picks it up. When she goes to fire it, she discovers that it is a water pistol. [Uhm, no. Bruno didn't have a gun, instead Katie pretended she had one and then tossed water on him from a nearby vase. Obviously, change in plans.] Simon tosses Bruno out, kisses his wife, and carries her to bed. Just as they are about to make love, Katie tells Simon that she wants to wait.
Katie tells Simon that they have to wait until Halloween - their anniversary - before they can make love again in order to undo all of the bad karma they have experienced in the past year. While stuck in traffic, the couple starts to argue about Katie’s decision for them not to make love until Halloween. After talking, they make up and then arrive at Lucinda's. He declares that all he wants is to make her happy; he even got a job at WorldWide. They make love.
Katie is on the hunt for her wedding reception. She finds Carly and Jack together and immediately alerts Craig. Carly's bridal dress from the BRO show arrives and Katie signs for it. Margo asks Simon to keep an eye on Jack and make sure that he isn't getting into any trouble. Simon agrees to help her out. Meanwhile, Katie gives Dahlia the boot, but is wowed by her proposals and considers her life filled with fame and fortune. Simon arrives and tells her not to throw away her dreams - just remain aware of who she is working with. He vows that no one will come between them and breaks the news that he is leaving town without her. They say their good-byes and Katie calls Dahlia to get back on track with their joint business venture. Simon reports to Margo that Jack never boarded his flight to Marseilles and they arrange to meet at Jack's house.
Katie gets upset when a strange woman comes by looking for Simon. At Java, Dahlia watches as Simon and Margo meet to discuss Jack's disappearance. Margo insists that Katie can't know about his new assignment for her own safety. Dahlia returns to Katie's suite and encourages her suspicions when she tells Katie that she saw Simon at Java. Katie calls Simon on his cell phone and he lies about his location to protect her. Katie is upset and storms out to confront him. The strange woman tracks Simon down to Java and informs him that she represents Monique Ferrara's estate and hands him a large check.
Katie finds Simon at Java and catches him in another lie. She storms off and he tries to follow her, but is called away when he gets some more information about Jack's whereabouts. He notifies Margo that Jack never used his passport. She insists that he stay on the case so they don't lose time. He returns to Katie to apologize and sets off again. Simon and Mitzi meet up to search Jack's house and look for clues about his disappearance. Simon finds Jack's file on Stenbeck and Mitzi searches upstairs, unaware that Julia has dragged Jack into the closet. Mitzi and Simon, frustrated that they haven't found anything, set out to leave, but Mitzi sees the flowers she bought Jack are in the trash and immediately grows suspicious.
Simon hides the check from Monique's estate from Katie, who is suspicious about all the secrets Simon has been keeping. Once alone, Katie discovers the check and tracks down where it came from. Later, Simon and Craig run into each other at Jack's apartment and Simon admits that he is working for Margo. They team up and discover a vial of Viagra in Jack's apartment and theorize that Julia is trying to get Jack to impregnate her.
Katie grows more frustrated by Simon's secrecy when Margo confides in Simon that she needs him to help her out because she doesn't trust Hal. Katie complains to Margo that she is worried that Simon is lying to her, but Margo convinces Katie not to confront him. Later, Simon gets a list of ambulance services from Ben for Margo and gets an idea. He tries to give Ben the check from Monique for the hospital burn unit, but Bob thinks that Simon should discuss it with Katie first. When he returns home, Katie can't help but question Simon about the check. Simon tells Katie that Monique was an ex-wife who died the day that he left her. Katie tries to convince Simon to keep the money so they can build a life together with it. Alone, Simon regrets not sharing the whole story with Katie.
Mitzi reveals to Simon and Craig what she knows about her French contact. Craig tries to confirm Carly’s landlord’s story with Molly and discovers that she hasn't been to visit Carly's apartment. He and Simon put two and two together and set off to Carly's hoping to find Julia and Jack.

Julia arranges Jack's "accident" and Jack struggles to free himself while the car is sinking in the river. Later, Simon and Craig wake up and report to Margo that Julia is trying to kill Jack. Barbara returns to Fairwinds and is shocked to find Julia waiting for her. Simon jumps into the water to rescue Jack. He pulls him to shore and Margo arrives with an EMS team.

She shares with Simon her dreams to live in an enchanted cottage with him. Simon looks at cottages while Katie’s fans mob her. Margo and Simon conclude that Hal may have taken James to the Old Mill and they set out. At the Old Mill, Hal starts to come undone and hallucinates a comatose James attacking him. He responds by holding his gun to James, but Margo arrives in time to reason with Hal. He takes the gun away from James, but aims it at himself. Barbara arrives at the old mill and challenges Hal to kill himself and to leave his children all alone. Hal relents and Simon takes his gun away. Margo calls for an ambulance and Simon grows concerned when he can't find a pulse on James. Hal manages to talk Simon though the motions to save James' life.
Simon joins Katie before her interview with Self magazine. A photographer arrives, but Simon is wary about having his picture taken. Simon leaves Katie to her interview while he goes to work on the cottage. Dahlia follows Simon and accuses him of using Katie's money, instead of his inheritance, to buy their house. Simon proclaims that once Katie is done with the video, he wants Dahlia out of their lives. Meanwhile, Katie is shocked when the interviewer tells her that Simon was suspected of murdering one of his wives, Monique Ferrara.
Katie is stunned to see proof that Simon was suspected of killing Monique. Meanwhile, Simon asks Dahlia who she is, but she insists that she is only trying to protect Katie. Katie arrives, furious that she didn’t know about Simon’s potential involvement in Monique's death. Simon explains to her that he feels responsible because he didn't stop Monique from going sailing drunk during a storm, but no, he did not kill her. Katie, still suspicious, asks Simon what else he has lied about and then runs out. Later, Dahlia wonders how Simon will spend his inheritance and reveals that she is Monique's sister.
Simon tries to impress upon Katie that Dahlia is angling to drive a wedge between them. Katie turns to Craig and Lucy, who have been discussing what it means to be in love. She admits that she doesn’t want to return to the cottage. Simon arrives to ask Margo for help. Margo surprises him by confirming that she knew about his history and asks the FBI to run a search on Dahlia. Simon grabs the results and stuns Katie with the news that Dahlia was Monique’s sister. However, Katie is still wary and insists that she and Simon spend the night apart.
Simon and Katie confront Dahlia, who admits that she is Monique's sister. She tells Katie that she is not trying to punish Simon, but rather trying to save Katie. She then stuns Katie by revealing that Simon lied again – the case wasn't kicked out for lack of evidence, but on a technicality.
Katie admits that she is not sure if she should believe Simon or Dahlia. She assures him that she is on his side, but she is tired of being the last to know everything. Katie prepares to go to her video launch party and Simon stays home. Katie arrives at the party and she tells Dahlia that this will be the last time they work together and that Simon isn't attending the party. Unhappy with that solution, Dahlia engineers Simon, who has been drinking, into rushing over to the party. Simon arrives, furious that he was being manipulated and warns Dahlia to stay out of his life. Simon sits at the bar as Dahlia makes a toast to Katie. Simon can’t keep his rage inside when he realizes that Dahlia is reading his wedding toast to Monique to Katie. He attacks her, but is pulled off by Isaac.
Simon and Dahlia continue to fight at Java. Katie boots Dahlia out, but not before she warns Katie that Simon will kill her. Simon and Katie argue and Simon storms off. Katie confides in Margo that Simon has been keeping secrets from her and Margo is forced to admit that Simon has been working undercover for her. Meanwhile, Dahlia follows Simon home, boasting that she has ruined his marriage and will prove to the world that he is a murderer. Simon chases Dahlia out of the house when she threatens to show Katie newspaper articles implying that he killed Monique. He returns alone to find Katie home. The two reconcile and vow not to let Dahlia come between them. Later, Dahlia’s car is abandoned and empty in a ditch.
Katie has a nightmare that Simon tried to kill her. Simon is distressed to realize that Dahlia got to Katie and has managed to shake her trust in him. They comfort each other and vow to make their home together a beautiful and safe place. Later, Margo is called in to examine Dahlia’s abandoned car.
Simon apologizes to Katie and heads out to Java to say sorry to Isaac. He and Isaac talk about the women in their lives and Simon tries to convince Isaac to fight for Bonnie. Meanwhile, Margo goes to ask questions about Simon's argument with Dahlia, but she only finds Katie, who tries to defend her husband. Margo tells her about Dahlia's car being found and Katie goes to Java to warn Simon that Margo wants to question him. Margo follows her and confronts Katie and Simon together.
Simon explains to Margo that he believes that Dahlia is setting him up. Katie worries that Simon will go to jail, but he promises her that everything will be all right. They head home. Later, Katie finds Dahlia's car keys in Simon's backpack. Meanwhile, Isaac is affected by Katie's support of Simon and allows Lisa to talk him into contacting Bonnie.
Katie admits that she is a little afraid of Simon. Simon arrives and declares that if nothing else, they should be honest with each other. He informs her that he came clean with Margo about the car keys and tells her what Margo found in Dahlia's car. He pleads with her to believe in him because he thinks Dahlia has a lot more up her sleeve. Meanwhile, Craig reveals to Parker that he hopes Carly will appreciate what he is doing to keep her son away from Rosanna. He takes Parker to Katie and Simon and asks them to take Parker to the cottage while he deals with the police.
Katie shows Simon Dahlia's watch and the check. Simon insists that he is innocent and Katie assures him that she is confused, but she does trust him. They hear the police approaching and Katie takes off with Parker. Katie finds Nancy and makes up an excuse for why she needs Nancy to baby-sit for Parker at the last minute. Meanwhile, Margo arrests Craig for kidnapping. When she finds no trace of Parker, she tries to make a deal with him that she will reveal what she knows about Carly if he gives up where Parker is. Rosanna arrives and Craig makes his case that Parker is a great kid who is always surrounded by love. Rosanna softens and Margo goes to search Katie and Simon’s cottage for Parker. When they don't find him, they leave Simon alone and he makes a mysterious phone call.
Simon and Lucinda talk through his problem with Dahlia. Lucinda believes that he is innocent and suggests beating Dahlia at her own game. If Dahlia will only come out of hiding when Simon is proved guilty, he has to "kill" Katie. Katie searches for toys for Parker in Craig's suite. At the police station, Craig admits to Rosanna that he loves Carly, but he is vying with Jack for her affections. Rosanna is willing to help him, if he hands over Parker. Craig agrees and tells Katie to bring Parker to the station. Margo catches up with Katie, but is dismayed when she can’t find Parker. Nancy voluntarily brings Katie down to the police and tells Katie that she is the one who turned her in. With everyone accounted for, Margo asks if Rosanna wants to press charges against Craig and Katie. She opts not to press kidnapping charges against Craig and Katie. Simon arrives to give Margo his statement. Alone with Katie, Simon announces that he has come up with a solution – he must pretend to murder her. Katie is not thrilled and storms off.
Simon convinces Katie to go along with his plan to fake her murder. They are interrupted by a call from Jill Scully, Dahlia’s lawyer. She warns Katie that her life is in danger and they must meet. Simon decides to meet with Jill in hopes of her leading him to Dahlia. Later, Katie writes her own obituary. Katie reveals to Nancy that she and Simon are going to stage her murder. Katie goes to the old Mill, where Simon informs her that Jill never showed up to meet with him. Katie panics as Simon ties her up and begins to have doubts about their plan. She relents and when Simon goes to get his camera from his car, Jill's body drops from the rafters. Katie starts to freak out and Simon rushes them outside. He declares that they can't call the police because he will be a suspect. Katie decides to lie and be Simon's alibi, but she grows concerned about his involvement.
Simon is upset that Katie is having doubts about his role in Jill's murder. The cops arrive and Katie is disturbed by how easily Simon lies to them, but she helps him out and provides an alibi. Katie returns home and is stunned to find Henry snooping around her house. Katie believes that Henry is behind the Dahlia plot to make Simon look guilty. When Henry sincerely denies any knowledge of Dahlia or Monique, Katie concludes that Simon really is trying to kill her. Henry hears her story and believes that Simon is guilty. At the Old Mill, Simon is questioned about the duct tape and box cutters that were in his car. He tries to lamely defend himself. Lucinda arrives and she and Simon realize that he is continuing to play into Dahlia's plan and he fears that she is going to kill Katie. They make a plan and Simon arrives at home to tell Katie that they should run away together immediately.
Simon tries to convince a freaked out Katie to run away with him. Katie eventually relents and agrees to leave, but she secretly confides in Henry that she is leaving with him, not Simon. She leaves Simon a note and Henry leaves behind his martini glass with his initials and Simon realizes that Henry Coleman is back in her life. Simon searches for Katie, who sneaks back into the cottage with Henry. Simon finds them and asks Katie why she was hiding from him. Simon suggests that she stay as far away from him as possible, but admits that this means that Dahlia has already won. When Simon pushes Katie to admit what she’s feeling, she punches him for pressuring her. Simon realizes that she loves him but doesn't trust him and tells her to stay away from both him and Henry.
Simon advises Katie to go to the Lakeview, where she’ll be safe. Katie reluctantly agrees and Henry escorts her to Craig's suite. Simon follows them and warns Henry to stay away from Katie. Henry calls Katie and tells her of his encounter with Simon in the hallway. Feeling guilty about running out on him, Katie charges out to apologize. She gets stuck in the hotel elevator and it sounds like someone is trying to cut the cables! Lucinda and Nancy hear Katie calling for help in the elevator. A maintenance man comes into the elevator from the ceiling and both he and Katie are shaken but unharmed when the elevator falls to the lobby. Katie grows concerned that Simon was behind the elevator problem, especially when she sees him walking through the lobby with his tools. Concerned about her safety, he tries to get her to go to the police with him, but she runs away. Katie realizes that Simon is innocent. She is hauled down to the police station, where Simon has told Margo how worried is about Katie's safety. Margo reunites Simon and Katie, who vow that they can beat Dahlia as long as they do it together. Meanwhile, Dahlia has prepared a surprise at the cottage. {Actually, Nancy mentioned Simon to Katie, thinking that this was part of the "Kill Katie" scheme and that's what made her think that he might have something to do with it when she mentioned that she had seen Simon in the lobby. Katie just went to the police station to talk to Margo. And then Margo left the two alone in the interrogation room to talk things out, which they did.)
Katie starts up the stairs of the Frasier cottage, but Simon stops her, insisting that he go first. The banister gives way and Simon and Katie fall to the floor, breaking Katie's wrist. Simon is furious that Dahlia was able to get to them in their own home. Katie tries to get through to Margo that Dahlia is after Simon, but Margo sees the fact that Katie is the one injured. Once alone, they find a tiny hidden microphone and realize that Dahlia has been keeping tabs on them. Simon comes up with a plan to catch Dahlia at her own game.
Simon and Katie vow to expose Dahlia for who she is. They stage a fight for Dahlia’s benefit and Katie throws him out and exclaims that she wants a divorce. Simon leaves with the intention of driving away from the cottage and returning on foot to keep an eye on Katie, in hopes that Dahlia will reveal herself. However, Dahlia sneaks up on him and knocks him out before she approaches Katie with the news that she is in danger. Katie freaks out when Dahlia tells her that Simon is unconscious and very dangerous. Katie demands that Dahlia leave, but in an attempt to prove that she is legitimate, Dahlia calls the police and reports that Simon is trying to kill both her and Katie. Dahlia explains her actions to Katie, but Simon interrupts them. After a brief struggle, Dahlia falls through the banister. The police arrive on the scene and see Dahlia unconscious and Katie and Simon standing over her.
Katie and Simon tell the police that Dahlia is the bad guy, but when she awakens, she points her finger at Simon for trying to hurt her and Katie. Margo arrives and Katie and Simon give her their story, including when Dahlia told Katie about a bomb in the cottage. Margo clears out the cottage, but Simon runs back in, finds the bomb and throws it into the woods before it can explode. Margo goes to question Dahlia, but cautions Simon and Katie that their fate lies with the DA. Katie and Simon plead their case to Margo, but they are interrupted when Dahlia has a seizure in the ambulance. They accompany Margo to the hospital, where Margo questions Dahlia. She maintains that Simon is guilty of murder, has another seizure and dies. Worried that she may have sealed Simon's fate as well, Margo recommends that he get a good lawyer.
Margo plays the recording from the cottage and it sounds as though Dahlia was a victim of Katie and Simon's violence. They realize that because Simon found the bomb, it appears as though he may have planted it. Katie and Simon agree to take a lie detector test. A Sacramento detective who had investigated Monique's murder arrives and to Simon's surprise, she holds evidence that Dahlia is responsible for her sister’s murder, not Simon. Meanwhile, Dahlia wakes up and removes her toe tag. She places a sleeping woman on her gurney, places the toe tag on her and slips away.
Margo and Katie are informed that Dahlia has made an airplane reservation. Katie calls to give Simon the good news, unaware that Simon can't get to the phone because Dahlia has a gun trained on him. Dahlia tells Simon her plan to provide the cops with a murder-suicide scene with both Katie and Simon dead. Simon and Dahlia struggle and he manages to pin her down. When she sees Katie arrive, she makes it appear as though she and Simon are in the throes of passion. Katie picks up the gun and fires it.
Katie and Dahlia struggle for the gun and Simon musters enough strength to save Katie. Margo takes Dahlia to the station and Simon, who wasn’t shot, and Katie look forward to a future without Dahlia. They make love. At the police station, Dahlia warns Margo about Simon's dark side. Meanwhile, Simon assures Katie that nothing can destroy their marriage. Katie remains skeptical, but Simon thinks that they should stay true to their natures and continue to be adventurous. He proposes that they streak down to the highway.
Margo hauls Katie and Simon down to the station to question them about their streaking adventure. She challenges them to get serious about their lives. She asks Simon for his help in getting Paul and Rose back from Avanya, but Katie doesn't want him involved in anything dangerous. Margo suggests that Lucinda ask Simon for help in finding Rose because she can’t do anything. Lily confides in Holden how worried she is about Rose. Lucinda relays Margo’s suggestion that they hire Simon, but Lily refuses to remove Simon from his life with Katie just because they need help. Later, Paul calls Lily and reveals that he doesn’t know where Rose is. Meanwhile, Simon does some research on Avanya and Katie becomes worried that he is going to leave her again. Simon insists that he isn’t interested in going anywhere, but Katie wonders if they have the same future in mind. She suggests that they get their investigator’s license and work together, but Simon is not enthused. (I would love to say that the last sentence actually happened -- I'm a big proponent of the idea of KnS as detectives, but alas, it did not.) He insists that all he wants to do is make her happy. He gets rid of his research on Avanya and promises not to go anywhere.
Paul tells Lily that he needs lots of money and someone who she trusts to help in Avanya. Lily promises to do what she can and immediately goes to Katie to beg for Simon's help. Katie is wary of letting Simon get involved in something so dangerous, but Lily's pleas get to her. She turns to Margo for advice and realizes that she has to let him go. Meanwhile, Lucinda meets with Simon to try to convince him to go to Avanya. Simon turns down all of her offers, insisting that he can't leave Katie. When he returns home, Katie tells him that he should go to Avanya if her feels that he can help. Katie tells Simon that it is up to him, but she thinks he should go help find Rose and Paul. Simon informs Lily that he is on the job and he has to leave immediately. Katie promises not to follow him to Avanya and they say goodbye.
Katie and Molly at Java Underground, both alone, sit together. Molly inadvertently causes Katie to worry about Simon's safety, but breaks down when she overhears Katie on the phone with Simon telling him how much she misses him.
Lily tells Holden that she is feeling better, but Katie, who is worried about Simon, interrupts them. She got a telegram from him requesting her help. Lucinda reluctantly agrees to take Katie down to Avanya. In Avanya, FauxSimon is in the middle of a poker game and informs the locals that he is searching for a diamond. Henry shows up and FauxSimon announces that Cooley is gone. Henry says that he doesn’t know where Rose and Paul are. FauxSimon takes the provenance from Henry and tells him to get lost.
In Avanya, Lucinda and Katie search for Simon and are told by the desk clerk, Desi, that "Simon" has gone fishing. Desi seems to recognize Lucinda, but she shrugs it off. FauxSimon returns and Katie is surprised to find him smoking a cigar and looking very different. He insists that he never sent her a telegram. He dismisses Katie to play poker and she is shocked by his attitude towards her. Henry reveals to Katie that "Simon" stole the provenance from him. When she confronts FauxSimon, he admits that he has the provenance, but insists that he took it to protect it. Katie is hurt when FauxSimon tells her to leave him alone. She meets up with Lucinda, who has been warned about the changes in "Simon" and how he is dangerous. The real Simon sits in jail and tries to figure out a way to escape.
Katie tries to get through to "Simon" with a nice breakfast, but he rejects her. She decides to leave and starts to pack her bags while FauxSimon meets with Cooley about where the diamond is. Cooley claims that Katie has the diamond and Simon stabs him before going to stop Katie from leaving. Lucinda finds Rose, pays for her freedom and is disappointed to learn that they don’t know where Paul is. The real Simon fails to escape from jail and is recaptured.
Rose tells Lucinda that someone who looked like Simon tried to kill her and Paul. As they try to piece together what has happened, they run into Katie, who is ready to leave. She finds Cooley, who reveals that Simon has the diamond and then dies. Katie decides to stay in town and help. In jail, Simon comes face to face with his imposter, Donovon. Donovon demands that Simon help him pass himself off as the real Simon or he'll kill Katie. He returns to Katie, who buys into his scheme until she kisses him and realizes that it is not her Simon.
Katie tells Rose and Lucinda that Simon is a fraud. Lucinda and Rose are skeptical especially when "Simon" arranges for a romantic ride in a convertible with Katie. (Nope, did not happen at all. Katie questioned him about it later, but no romantic anything was planned.) Later, Katie catches Henry trying to break into her room. She forces him to help her search the place for proof that Simon isn't the real Simon. They find a picture of a plastic surgeon's markings and Katie is more convinced than ever. In jail, a very sick Joe is brought in to share a cell with Simon.
Donovan interrupts Katie and Henry going through his stuff and Katie blames Henry. Later, Katie and Lucinda devise a plan to learn the truth about Simon by getting him drunk and making him slip up. Their plan backfires and Lucinda and Katie wind up getting drunk. Donovan tries to coax information about the diamond out of Katie, who pretends to be drunk. They realize that Cooley told them different things about the location of the diamond and Katie surprises him by recommending that they ask the other Simon for help. Lucinda fills Rose in on her and Katie's exploits and they realize that "Simon" held his liquor better last night than he had in the past.
Katie tells Donovan that she knows that he isn't the real deal. Rose arrives and knocks Donovan out; the girls search him and discover that his real name is Donovon Curry. They find the provenance in his room and Lucinda asks Desi to keep it in the safe. A disheveled Paul appears surrounded by soldiers and Lucinda pays his ransom. Donovon wakes up and goes in search of the provenance, which Henry has overheard is in the safe.
Henry comes running out after trying to break into the safe and Katie and Lucinda threaten to send Henry to jail if he doesn’t help them. They persuade him to disguise himself and follow Donovan to find where Joe and Simon are. In jail, Joe is getting sicker. Donovan picks up Joe and goads Simon with amorous lies about Katie. Later, he tells Katie, Paul and Rose that they can see him again in exchange for diamond and the provenance. Meanwhile, Henry goes to help Simon.
Donovan demands that Katie, Rose and Lucinda get him the diamond within 24 hours in exchange for Joe. Meanwhile, Henry tells Simon that Katie is safe and knew that Donovan was an imposter. Simon sends Henry back to the hotel to get Paul's help and to find explosives.
Donovon encourages Lucinda and Rose to search for the diamond because Joe's life depends on it. In jail, Simon and Katie are reunited and Paul starts to rig the jail with explosives. Paul drags Katie away as the jail explodes. Henry returns to Lucinda and Rose and they all realize that there may be another Simon: Coconut Simon. Paul and Katie can't free Simon from the jail and rush off to get more explosives. Rose finds the diamond in the Coconut Simon and they all plot for how to get Joe back safely. They convince Henry to deal with Donovon. Rose insists on seeing Joe before they do the exchange, but Donovon pulls a knife on Rose.
